Taking Chances Molly McAdams : Review

This book ruined me…emotionally ruined me. I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much whilst reading a book…

No matter how many tears I cried or how I wish the ‘moment’ that broke my heart didn’t happen,  it has managed to become one of my favourite books that I have ever read. One of those books that will not leave your mind, no matter how much you want it too… That being said you NEED to read this book!

Harper is very insecure in her relationships  after being brought up with her marine father, a seemingly unaffectionate father at that.  When Harper goes off to college she meets not one but two guys! Chase and Brandon and whilst there is an instant attraction with Chase there is also an instant dislike.  She struggles to see herself with him now and in the future, she could never be with Chase could she? Harper ultimately begins a relationship with Brandon and is happy, she falls in love with him, but Chase is present in her mind and her life and she unwillingly falls in love with Chase too…

I switched between Chase and Brandon throughout this book but my heart was with Chase, (oh now I feel guilty for saying that..can you imagine how Harper feels struggling between them both) but I do love him and I love how strongly he loves Harper oh but I love Brandon too, I know he will never let her down.. OK I love them both can I do that!?… I really believe that Harper loves both Chase and Brandon equally, it was just one of those unfortunate moments where you find the love of your life twice. What could she do in this situation, I felt her struggle as if it where my own. The author does such a good job of making you feel like you are part of this book, that every anguished moment is real..she has such talent!

I grew very frustrated with Harper because I wanted her to make the right decision… I felt that she was always second guessing Chase’s love for her and I feel that he was 100% committed to her, she is the love of his life and he would devote himself to being the perfect man for her even though he feels she deserves better. Harper is so insecure and doesn’t trust in Chases love for her, it makes me angry that she could be so oblivious,  she cant’t look into his eyes and see how deep his love goes? she doubts him when she shouldn’t. She never seems to doubt Brandon but she never seems 100% committed either, her heart is being pulled in two very different directions. She has difficult decisions to make and nothing is ever simple…There are a few twists in this book that alter the course you think the story is going to go, nothing is predictable, which is great because who want’s to read a book where they think they know what is going to happen…nope not with this book! You don’t cant even imagine to begin to know!!!! 😐

I still remember the moment everything changed and that utter feeling of shock, devastation and sadness so many emotions..Five words that altered the course of this book and broke my heart.

I cried and cried and cried..I stepped away from the book because I couldn’t read anymore, I couldnt deal with it and mainly because I couldn’t see, my eyes where misted over because I was sobbing, I couldn’t read the words even if I wanted to! You will feel the pain like it is your own…

There are no words to describe how deeply this story affected me. I wanted to go back and change what happened, I even wanted the story to be re written (and still do because I want to know what would happen if everything was different) I even cheekily asked the author to do an alternate ending, fingers crossed this may one day happen, maybe just for peace of mind and to lessen the devastation this book caused me.

This book is emotionally taxing but don’t doubt that there will be a ‘happily ever after…’ you may love the ending or you may like me wish for a different ending but nothing can take away from the utter amazingness that is this book. I can’t begin to imagine the struggle that Molly had to endure when writing this book, and I know from talking to her that this book played with her emotions just as much as it does ours.

Two days on from finishing this book, I still struggle, the mere thought causes a lump in my throat to appear along with the teary eyes…it just plain old HURTS!

This book without a doubt is a roller-coaster ride of emotions but as much as it makes you cry hopefully it will also make you smile. A story of tragedy and love… one that will have you questioning throughout the entire book.. BRANDON or CHASE???

If I haven’t sold the story to you, please just take my advice and read it, its up there with the likes of Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire which are my all time favourites.. (I’m a very picky reader so that along should tell you how great this book is). Its definitely a long read, nothing makes me happier than a book where I can fall away for hours on end into the land of fantasy 🙂

Please, please go buy this book you will not regret it. You can purchase it at Amazon here.

P.S The author has a new book due out in December and I’m sure it will live up to taking chances, but hopefully I wont feel like I need to see a therapist after reading it! 🙂 You can find out more about the book ‘From Ashes‘ on the authors Goodreads page where she will be posting teasers in the upcoming months before its release.

I’m counting own the days already, this author is now a firm favourite of mine! 🙂

A suprising week of books…

I really wasn’t expecting much from this months book releases other than the obvious with CJ Roberts: Seduced in the Dark and Tina Reber’s Love Unrehearsed (which has been pushed back until Sept 14 th, due to the author being signed by Simon & Schuster’s Atria Books) Big congratulations to the author :)!! So other than these two I didn’t really have much to look forward long awaited releases, But i was in for a big surprise. There where two releases that just amazed me, I immediately fell in love with them. The first was On Dublin Street by Samantha Young..Review. Lots of sex, love, and humour..what more do you need!

The second surprise came in that of a recently released book by self published author Molly McAdams with her first book ‘Taking Chances‘ this was amazing, but be ready for some hardcore heartbreak and never ending tears before you can smile again. One of those books that leaves you emotionally drained…

On Dublin Street by Samantha Young : Review

This was such an unexpected find for me…I hadn’t really heard anything about it, it actually came up on my goodreads news feed when someone added it to there to-read list. Read the blurb and I was immediately put off because it was set in Edinburgh (Usually hate books set in the UK, even though I live here! ha). However I was in a bit of a funk because I’d read all the newest releases and needed something to read after SITD so I went ahead and bought it not expecting much at all!…

I was blown away, I usually know if I’m going to like a book after the first few pages depending on the authors writing, sometimes I buy books from self published authors or authors I haven’t heard about and I’m let down by the writing style or grammatical errors..but no this author write so well and the book opened up so well…I was nearly close to tears after the first few paragraphs and I hadn’t even built an attachment with Jocelyn (Joss) yet. The story opens up with some sad news for Joss, I can’t imagine having to deal with such a loss at such a young age, this ultimately affects Joss’ relationships throughout her life, she pretty much closes her heart off to everyone in the hope she won’t be hurt again…understandable. This leaves her character with a very angsty personality which I love .. a book that is smooth sailing is no fun! It all really begins years later when Joss has moved to Edinburgh from the States, having just finished university she is working at becoming a writer, fantasy at that, something so far removed from real life as it gets for her! Enter Braden Carmicheal (humana humana) Rich, Hot, Sexy, Funny…Tall, Dominant did I say Sexy?! he’s a bit of a player but what can you expect!…after sharing a taxi together and failing to impress Joss, Braden then meets her again as his sisters new room-mate, involving,  sudsey nakedness and an awkward second introduction..but oh so sexy! This is the beginning of a very flirty friendship where Joss tries to keep her distance but as we all no..attraction always wins with a guy like Braden! I love his character so much, he’s got it going onnnn… Joss has a stick up her ass most of the time but eventually we get to see her loosen up a bit and that’s where the fun begins…

HOT Blurb *****: Four years ago, Jocelyn Butler left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Edinburgh. Burying the grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without any real attachments has worked well for her so far but when Joss moves into a fantastic apartment on Dublin Street, her carefully guarded world is shaken to its core by her new roommate’s sexy older brother.

Braden Carmichael is a man who always gets what he wants. And what he wants is Jocelyn in his bed. Knowing how skittish Joss is concerning any kind of relationship, Braden proposes a sexual arrangement that should satisfy the intense attraction between them without it developing into anything ‘more’. An intrigued Jocelyn agrees, completely unprepared for the Scotsman and his single-minded determination to strip the stubborn young woman bare…to the very soul.

This book basically centres around their blossoming relationship between Braden and Joss but the secondary characters are very fun too…Adam (Braden’s BF and Ellie the lil sis) have some major sexual tension that comes to a head in the book, we’ve all read the story of the lil sis having a crush on the best friend 😉 after receiving some distressing news Adam finally decides life is too short and makes his move… Would be nice to maybe have another book telling there story in more detail..Yes please!

This book does such a good job of playing to all your emotions and putting you right there with the characters whilst also having the right amount of humour..I really loved this’s not an amazing literary phenomenon but it is definitely a 5 star read in my opinion and one that is a must on your to be-read has the right amount of angst, heartbreak, sexy time, drama and all round happy ending 😉

You can purchase your copy at amazon : check this one out ladies…you won’t be dissapointed!

Seduced in the Dark by CJ.Roberts : Review

Where to start with this book.. first off it is just as deep and dark as the first book (Captive in the Dark). I fell in love with that book! The author captured my attention from the beginning, what a brilliant creative writer she is, not scared too take risks and go to those places. She somehow manages to make you fall in love with Caleb even though he is the ‘bad guy’ but the back story helps us to understand why he does the evil things he does.. the ultimate revenge for his abuse as a child. CJ roberts delves deeper into this aspect throughout seduced in the dark, so we catch a glimpse of this abuse through some of Caleb’s memories. Livvie struggles with her feelings throughout this book just as she did in the first but she realises that she has truly fallen in love with Caleb and it’s the real deal, I think she slowly begins to understand the way he is and even through the evil things he does he shows her that he cares even when he doesn’t want to.

This book is definitely a 5 star for me because I waited so long for it’s arrival and it lived up to my expectations, although I find the emotions I felt throughout this book to be very different to some other romance books I have read, (but then again this is a dark erotica). Although I did feel for both Caleb and Livvie I never felt that moment of heartbreak because I always expected the bad things to happen..but I still felt the need for a happy ending. I seem to need some sort of heartbreak to make a book a stand out to me. I can’t explain it but I think I like to see the characters over come their problems and it makes the book that much more real and feel like I’m almost there in that moment. I did really like this book it answered all the unanswered questions from first book with a few twists thrown in there, believe me you will certainly feel Caleb’s pain! 😦

I  did feel that the ending was a bit rushed, I would have liked to have seen the reunion go on a bit longer and maybe for them to talk to each other a bit more to resolve anything unsolved as I feel it would be difficult to go from the ‘relationship’ they had (if you can call it that) to a happily ever after. Overall I’m very impressed with this book and the series as a whole..seduced in the dark and captive in the dark are worth a read if your looking for something darker than the usual romance, not for the faint of heart!

You can purchase both books from Amazon here for UK reader only £3.42! and here for the US readers…

The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle :Review

I don’t know where to start with this review other than to say AMAZING! if I could recommend a book to read it would be this one. With such a great plot/storyline/characters etc it has shot to the top of my faves list..along with a few others that hold there place! To get there it needs to get to me on an emotional level and let me tell you this one did! If i’m crying my eyes out at a book then its great because the author has managed to make it believable which can be very difficult!

I had this book saved on my goodreads to be read list for a while but I think I only came across it about 2 months ago so atleast I wasn’t waiting too long thank god! i’m too impatient.

When I first opened the book I was overjoyed to see how long it was..I love me a long book that I can float away in 🙂 I loved everything about this book, the characters are real and have unbelievable depth to them, you can’t help but hope for a happy ending for Jake and Tru. My heart broke for Jake throughout the book and then for Tru. I remember thinking what is going to happen at this point because there’s over 100 pages left I can feel something coming.. and when it did I don’t think I’ve ever broke into tears so quick. I felt the betrayal as though it was my own…I often wonder if anyone gets as emotionally involved in books as I do? is this normal ha!?

Book Blurb: It’s been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.

Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.

Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another – Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can’t refuse – travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.

Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the worlds most notorious womanizer?

You just know that there is going to be heartache in a book with a blurb like this! I cannot recommend this book enough if you do anything this week read this! You won’t be disappointed one bit!  I can’t begin to desribe how happy i am to have came across another book like this! It often takes a while to find one that you just can’t forget about but when it happens I love it! straight to my re-read pile!… all the books that have made me feel this way have some kind of turmoil and heartbreak, it’s as though I secretly love the pain? or maybe I like to see the characters go through there worst and find that breakthough that happy ever after…thats real life right?

This picture describes perfectly the emotion of this book…hours later i was still thinking about it! except not on paperback (oldschool) HA!

This is definately a 5 star book! You can buy it from Amazon here for the unbelievably cheap price of £ worth it!

p.s I have so many other books that are in this same AMAZING category, hopefully i’ll get around to reviewing soon…such as Beautiful Disaster by Jamie Mcguire<— (all time fave) i’ll probably re-read first (5th time) ..if you don’t know by now im an obsessive reader..i literally read 5 books a day if i’m not doing anything! 😎

Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel by Sylvia Day : Review

This book is amazing! If you have read fifty shades of grey by E.L James then you will love this one. Similar story with even more steam! The writing is also a few steps ahead of fsog as the writer Sylvia Day has quite a few published books and is a NewYork Times and USA today best selling author.

This is one of those books that I re-read over and over! (Now a total of 5 times, and I’m sure I’ll read once more in preperation for the next installment on 2nd October, although I am hoping it is released a little bit earlier! I couldnt be more excited) You can pre-order your copy here

The book centres around a 24 year old Eva Tramell and the sexy Gideon Cross ( I picture a Chris Hemsworth sort of guy).

Both come across as strong individals with a dark past, Gideon is immediately attracted to Eva and actively pursues her although eva is alot more apprehensive especially with the entitled player attitude that Gideon puts across, but who would be stupid enough to turn down such a sexy rich man like Gideon.

The line that gets me is when Gideon says to Eva“Because I want to fuck you, Eva. I need to know what’s standing in my way, if anything.” Super hot right!?

Now I’ve read a fair few books in the past ten years with a lot of sex in them and I have come to find that if the book is purely sex scene after sex scene then I can’t stand it, I need emotion with my Sex and a true love story and this is what Sylvia gives us with this book. The characters and the story are so gripping and realistic that it will make this book stand out in your mind. This book makes you go through so many emotions and it is definitely not an easy ride, but what relationship ever is.

From the first meeting of Eva and Gideon it is easy to see a deep dark attraction between them both and they are drawn to each other. Gideon is used to meaningless sex and this is something Eva is not looking for, she wants emotion. They both eventually agree on a mutually satisfying relationship, but feeling develop on both sides and surprisingly Gideon becomes the kind of guy that Eva wants showing affection and love that you will be surprised by giving his strong Dominant personality… I think this dominant/submissive aspect will be explored further in the next book. As long as Gideon’s ex fiance Corinne doesnt get in the way…

This book exceeded my expectations, i could not recommend it more to anyone, it just needs to be read! I love a book that has be going back even though I know what happens, the only negative with this book is where it ends, it doesn’t really end with a cliffhanger or a proper ending, it just feels like the end of the chapter but it still leave me wanting to read on. I’m hoping the next book will be longer, there just aren’t enough pages, I’m a very greedy reader 😛

This is definately one of my top ten books and I would give it 5 stars.. there is nothing I would change, love it from start to finish. It’s one of those finds that are almost impossible to come across but once you do it’s forever in your mind (well especially mine).

Time to Review

to my new blog about booksbooks and even more books!

I am a huge book fan, to be completely honest I can get through 10-20 books a week! excessive I know!

I’ve been contemplating creating a book blog for a long time, not only to help me remember my favourites but also to make these fabulous books known to other avid readers.

I love that feeling of coming across a book that is so great that you don’t want it to ever end or it just gets to you on a deeper level that you cannot stop thinking about the story for days after.

I must have read into the thousands at this point in my life… books that make me smile, laugh and ugly cry!

Basically I feel the need to share the greatest books I’ve ever read and I hope that you will share your favourites with me too. I’ve now read that many books that its impossible to find those one off memorable amazing books with the love story to die for, writers just can’t keep up with me! 🙂 I have to re-read but that doesn’t hurt because i love to read my favourites again, again… and again.

I hope you’ll check out my reviews and maybe I’ll help you find that one book that will be unforgettable to you!
